I had no idea that there was such a field as archaeological illustration until I was looking through a course catalog for a field school option and saw a listing for an archaeological illustration course in London. I had completed a Bachelors in Studio Art and was going on to graduate school in Ancient Studies and couldn’t believe my good fortune in stumbling on this field where I could combine my love of art and passion for history. I booked the class, headed to London, and never regretted the choice.
A major benefit that I offer my clients is the knowledge that comes from extensive experience working in the field and the lab. This has given me an understanding of what information needs to be communicated in my images and the conventions used to share that knowledge. In all of my work I have an obsession with accuracy and a focus on clear communication with my clients.
